Is posting a memorandum thread allowed?

I recently wrote a thread honouring two famous people that have now passed on and had it in the off topic forum. I had no bad language, no pictures of anyone real, but I did mention their names and wish everyone a Happy Veteran's Day. Is this allowed? Please let me know so I can take it from there.

^^ We usually try to keep the forums a happier place, but I don't see anything wrong with honoring people as long as they aren't controversial figures.

If the people in question were not widely associated with politics, religion, or other sensitive subjects, then I don't see why not.
