deleting a group to get a new one

Hey I created one group about a month or two ago, but no one has joined. So i wanna delete it, but when I tried to exit the group it says group founder can't leave the group. So I figure I'd just create a new group but it says I've reached the maximum limit. Is there any way I can delete the group or do I need more points, or is it just something that can't be done now??
