Will 1.0 remain Web GL 1 compatible?

Since January of this year, I can no longer play 2.0 on my almost 8-year-old laptop, but at least 1.0 still works. I've had to use the shared computer to play 2.0 and just two months ago I discovered I can only do screenshots on my laptop anymore either. Will those with computers that can only play Web GL 1 still be able to experience 1.0 in the coming years? I'd have to purchase a new laptop to upgrade anymore because the newest browser said laptop can take is Firefox 48.
