Two winters ago I saw a red and black catterpillar in the snow! I honestly thought catterpillars preferred warmer areas and points of the year? Anyway, this catterpillar was still alive and I tried to help it into a safer spot that was a bit warmer. I guess sometimes catterpillars fail to find shelter from the cold in time. Have you ever seen a catterpillar and snow at the same time?
