Sparrowman With Longing
Edited by Serendipity129 at 2020-10-27 09:04A tiny fairy stares into the night with his back to the rest of his islet. Sixteen years has been such a long time.
From a detailed sketch I made in the summer to a meticulously-painted digital composition, I am proud to say that I’m finished with my FairyABC profile picture. I’ve learned so many techniques from drawing this, and I hope to improve it someday. Does anyone have any tips on painting curly hair like this? The link to the avatar upload page works, but the file upload itself does not, even if my image is the right size. Below is a timelapse of the process of my painting made in Procreate. I’ve censored the faces in the reference photos to accommodate for FairyABC guidelines. https://youtu.be/ml1g4xqu01g It's good to be back, especially at my favorite season of the year. Festivities begin, and it's the perfect time for dance! With that, I wish good fortune for all of you.
❀ kpop (korean pop) your sparrowman drawing is amazing, it really does look like he is longing for something.{:5_99:} This is wonderfui. Hope you share more artwork soon!
Wow! He looks so handsome! This is such a piece of art! I can't imagine how long this took you to do! This is perfect! Great job ::heart:: This is really pretty. The features are so perfect. I hope to see more of your artwork. This piece is beautiful! I'd love to see more of your work on the forums. ::heart::
Also, about changing your profile picture, once you click the change avatar tab, there is a light gray link at the bottom labeled 'Click here if you have Flashplayer enabled' click on it & upload your picture.
Keep in mind that it takes 24 hours for your profile picture to change so, that may be the reason why it hasn't changed yet.
A side note: your video isn't loading for me.
This is AMAZING!! I absolutely adore the proportions, lighting, and mood. Amazing job.
The grey link at the bottom of the avatar set page is really hard to click due to a popup so here it is.
I am not a master digital painter by any means, but I did paint some curly-ish hair on one of my works a few months back, here's a brief rundown of how I did it.
Solid color base

Figure out where hair "chunks" are with several low opacity strokes

Erase lines going through previously established hair pieces to add realism

Add highlights and shadows

I know there are a million and a half ways to do this, but that's just what I figured out on my own. Hope it's helpful and your drawing's curly hair looks brilliant as it is. You said your sparrowman character was a Dancing Talent in an earlier thread? This definitely looks like improvement from your earlier drawings and you even gave him more realism than in-game!
