Filing a report in 2.0

Edited by Jasper at 2020-7-8 12:18

The re-release, continuous updates, and compatibility with popular browsers on game version 2.0 has given FairyABC a lot more players than it had seen in the past year, which is a really good and exciting thing; however, this unfortunately also comes with a rise in trolling and rule-breaking. The staff can't always be in-game monitoring everything, and incidents are bound to happen while no admins or mods are present, so I want to write this up not only to remind our players that we do have a report system meant to uphold the safe, family friendly environment of FairyABC, but to also detail what that's going to look like in 2.0.

I want to preface by saying that the staff reserves the right to refuse a report if we suspect any kind of fraudulence or otherwise dishonest intentions behind it. Furthermore, if a report is filed and accepted, and it is a mild offense, the person in question will likely receive a warning from an admin or moderator via PM. We want to give everyone a fair chance, and you will be surprised at how many people will actually listen and follow the rules after their first warning.

This method of reporting may change in future updates, but for now, it is the most efficient way and is nearly exactly the same as reporting in 1.0. If future updates affect reporting, I will edit this thread accordingly.

Here are the FairyABC rules

If someone breaks the rules in-game ,the first thing you should do is take screenshots. I recommend screenshotting their profile first so that you will have their Unique ID, which is this number:

UID connects a fairy to their actual profile, thus allowing the staff to enact a ban/mute if need be.

Next, screenshot the chatlog to show what exactly was said.

Maximize the chatlog with the yellow arrow at the top right and use the leaf scroll bar to find earlier messages. The number next to someone's name in the chatlog is their 2.0 ID, which is different than UID. This number is also displayed on a person's profile here:

It acts as verification that the person in the chatlog is indeed the person shown in the profile screenshot, and gives the staff confirmation of UID number. This helps us make sure we are getting the right person, just in case someone happened to have the same fairy name and got wrongfully reported.

Hopefully in future updates, we will not only regain the chat filter but will show UID in chatlog instead of 2.0 ID. For the time being, though, this is the best way.

Next, you will post your screenshots in the Report Center.

Find it on the front page here:

Create a new thread

Attach your screenshots using the image button in the thread creator. Make sure your flash player is enabled for the upload button to appear.

If your image upload is not working, upload the screenshots to an image hosting site such as imgur and copy the Direct Link, pasting it into the box in the Image Link tab.

Keep in mind you can also use the BBCode link and paste that directly into the main thread creator text box, it does the same thing.

Write a brief description of what happened in your thread, and it is ready to post. I recommend posting anonymously, which can be done through the "Additional Options" tab toward the bottom of the page.

Click "New Thread", and your report will enter moderation where a member of staff will accept it and handle it accordingly.

If you want your report to be more private, you can private message a staff member and we will change the thread to be only visible by staff. Here are links to PM me and Dawn

Please use your best judgement when deciding to report someone.

Thank you for helping to keep FairyABC safe!

Thank you for the update, Jasper. Quick question: will clicking the report button without sending screenshots first negatively affect your account? I did this once when I couldn't comment, but then the responsible party and I settled the conflict in a civil manner in game. By the by, this was months ago and I try not to report until serious.

That's good. By the way again, once 2.0 is complete or at least in top working order, what will happen to 1.0?

One additional piece of advice, do not file too many reports. You could end up crying wolf and nobo ...

Yikes. Good to know, though.
